About The Wyvern Restaurant
The Wyvern, located in the heart of the beautiful old town of Amersham, is set within The Kings Arms Hotel; a characterful, traditional coaching inn dating back to the 1400s.
The restaurant derives its name from the two legged dragon on the logo of the Kings Arms Hotel which takes inspiration from King Henry VII’s coat of arms, as it is reported he stayed at the hotel several times while visiting Chenies Manor.
The Wyvern is a relaxed, home from home dining experience and we pride ourselves on delivering a quality, friendly, and personal style of service.
Classic Afternoon Tea
Dating back to the 1830s, the tradition of Afternoon Tea was founded by the Duchess of Bedford. It is documented that she did not like the period of time between luncheon and dinner, so opted for a long and social event with friends.
The Wyvern offers the perfect location to indulge in this tradition – and for those looking to make it a truly special occasion, upgrade your afternoon tea with a glass of something sparkling.
Enjoy our selection of classic sandwiches, including smoked salmon and crème fraiche, ham and red onion marmalade, free range egg and cress, and cucumber with cream cheese. Savour freshly baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve as well as a selection of delicately handcrafted cakes and pastries.

The Bar & Alfresco Dining
Our 15th Century Coaching Inn is more than just a pub. With roaring fires in the winter and a beautiful patio in the summer, this stunning pub showcases the best of British history.
In both daytime and evening, our traditional village pub offers a wide choice of ales, wines and spirits for you to enjoy.
Our bar and sandwich menu is perfect for dining both in the pub and outside on our terrace. Options include delicious, fresh salads, grilled steaks, hot and cold sandwiches, as well as various vegan and vegetarian options.
The Alfresco terrace provides a suntrap throughout the day and evenings will be warmed with ample heaters to ensure your experience is a snug and comfy one. But do remember to dress appropriately as we are dealing with the unreliable British weather! Our terrace is bookable for coffees, lunch afternoon teas and dinner.
